POLICY ADVISORY COUNCIL (PAC)

A Policy Advisory Council (PAC) is required to ensure that Scotnom Ltd at all times remains transparent, open, and reflective of the Scottish community that the dotSCOT campaign was set up to serve. This will in turn ensure that Scotnom and the dotSCOT campaign are accountable to the entire Scottish Community as well as ICANN.

It is intended that the PAC would be put in place formally when the bid process is successful and the dotSCOT registry becomes operational.

The PAC will have an advisory role, on the basis that Scotnom will look to the PAC for advice and input during any decision-making process, and consult for expertise as necessary.

To ensure every sector of the Scottish Community is represented, appointments to the PAC board will span a number of different sectors of society, reflecting business groups, elected groups, public funded bodies, as well as organisations representing wider civic society.

It is also of paramount importance that an Independent Chair is appointed.

With the exception of the Chair, we think it is likely that the PAC members will be representatives from umbrella organisations rather than from individual companies.

The full details of the role and remit of the Policy Advisory Committee are still under negotiation. Once finalised, PAC terms of reference will feature as downloadable documents from this page. Alternatively, please contact us to request more information on the PAC.
